Justen Williams, Timber Framer, on unearthing timber framing
Agatha Christie said that an archaeologist is the best husband a woman can have because the older she gets the more interested he is in her. After an epic walk on the Camino de Santiago, and armed with a B.S. (Magna Cum Laude) in Anthropology/Archaeology from Appalachian State University, Justen unearthed timber framing and loves how he gets to be outside, work hard every day, and think with his hands.
The sound that always makes me happy is: hearing my wife laugh.
My nickname at school was: Big Amish.
How did you get into timber framing? I saw Carolina Timberworks on a job site, thought ‘that’s pretty cool’, emailed Gesche and asked her some questions, and came in for an interview.
If money were no object, I would buy: a house with my own mountain.
My freezer is always stocked with: Blue Bell oatmeal cream pie ice cream.
